The Purple Scarf Campaign
Wear your Purple Scarf for the month of November!
Were you not able to attend the November 4th Pancake breakfast to get your scarf? Purchase your scarf at any Niagara TD Branch or call Gillian's Place at 905-684-4000 ext. 233.
To launch our 2014 Campaign, Gillian’s Place in partnership with the Niagara Regional Police, held a Pancake Breakfast at Market Square in Downtown St. Catharines on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014. Over 300 people attended. For a $10 minimum donation guests received a pancake breakfast and a purple scarf. Children ate free with a paying adult.
Breakfast included pancakes and sausage by Niagara College Bench on the Go and Tim Hortons coffee, tea and juice.
Last November, shelters across the province launched the Wrapped in Courage, purple scarf campaign, engaging their communities to join in raising the profile of the often overlooked issue of woman abuse in Ontario. The purple scarf is a symbol that shows that it takes the strength of an entire community to end violence against women.
During the month of November, everyone across Ontario was invited to participate in showing abused women that they have our support. More than 11,000 people participated in the Wrapped in Courage campaign in its first year including local and provincial dignitaries, like Premier Kathleen Wynne, and MPP Jim Bradley.
